NSCDC enhances security with 2,500 personnel deployed in Lagos
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 2,500 personnel in Lagos State to ensure heightened security during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The spokesperson of the NSCDC, Mr Seun Abolurin said this in a statement on Friday, in Lagos.
The deployment includes personnel from various departments such as Operations, Intelligence, Investigation, Anti-Vandal, Armed Squad, and Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear and Explosives Units. Strategic positioning of operational vehicles, ambulances, and machinery has been executed to support the mission.
Abolurin said that the officers and men were mandated to monitor all strategic and tactical locations, flash points and black spots.
He said that they were also to monitor beats, relaxation spots, recreational parks, markets, worship centres and religious gatherings, among others .
The spokesman quoted the Lagos -State NSCDC boss, Mr Ishaq Alfadarai, as saying that the safety of lives, critical national assets and infrastructure must not be compromised.
“The approach engaged will not neglect the remote rural, coastal regions and all areas where security is required within the state due to their vulnerabilities,” he is quoted as saying.
The NSCDC wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and encourages a peaceful celebration devoid of any misconduct.
