Nigeria Police Launch Disciplinary Action Against 151 Senior Officers Over Misconduct

The Nigeria Police Force has begun disciplinary action against 151 senior officers across the country over various allegations of misconduct and ethical violations, as part of ongoing efforts to uphold accountability and professional standards within the Force.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the development, noting that the disciplinary process commenced on Monday, July 14, and is scheduled to conclude on Friday, July 25, 2025, at the IGP Smart Conference Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
According to Adejobi, the officers, drawn from commands and units nationwide, are facing the Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC) over allegations ranging from professional misconduct to breaches of internal police regulations.
“The Force Disciplinary Committee is an essential internal structure responsible for reviewing and adjudicating cases of alleged breaches of professional conduct, misconduct, and ethical violations involving senior officers of the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police and above,” the statement read.
Adejobi explained that the FDC serves as the primary body responsible for investigating and evaluating complaints against officers from the rank of ASP and above. It assesses evidence, deliberates on findings, and recommends disciplinary measures in accordance with police regulations and laws.
He further emphasized the zero-tolerance stance of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, on misconduct, stressing that no form of indiscipline will be tolerated under his leadership.
“The Inspector-General of Police remains firmly committed to discipline and ethical conduct within the Force,” Adejobi stated.
