National Directorate of Employment Guides Lagos Corps Members on Realistic Business Ventures

Following the commencement of the Skill Acquisition Entrepreneurship Development week-long program, 2023 Batch “C” Stream II corps members have been trained on how to incorporate good and ethical business practices into entrepreneurial activities.

During the lecture, Mr Chike Ajaegbu from the National Directorate of Employment, used the Entrepreneurship Development Programme workbook to emphasize the need for corps members to engage in businesses they can earn a living from, not establishing businesses that are bogus, which may not be realistic in yielding returns.

According to him, Nigeria lacks enough employment opportunities to cater for the number of graduates the country churns out yearly.

He also advised corps members who are running businesses or looking forward to run businesses in the future to have good communication skills, adequate knowledge about the business sector, proper time management skills, be reliable at all times and also learn to delegate roles.

He added that the benefits of good business practices such as commitment and building a good customer relationship can not be overemphasized. These would lead to sales improvement and patronage, an improved business quality, and result in corporate social responsibility, he added. Bad business practices, on the other hand, damage reputations, lead to business failure, and make businesses lose potential customers.
