Mr P Says He Now Hides From Fame He Once Prayed For

Mr P has opened up about the unexpected downsides of fame, revealing how he often goes to great lengths to avoid public attention despite once praying for stardom.
In a candid interview with Naija FM, the music star shared that he now disguises himself with face masks, caps, and sunglasses when stepping out or traveling, just to maintain a level of privacy.
“Before, we used to pray for fame,” he said. “But now when I go out or when I travel, I cover my face with a facemask, a face cap, and even sunglasses to avoid being spotted.”
Reflecting on how fame has changed his everyday experiences, Mr P expressed a deep longing for the freedom he once had—especially the simple pleasure of stopping by roadside stalls to buy hot akara or grabbing his favorite burger from ABC.
“Most of us celebrities have parts of our lives that we don’t enjoy,” he admitted. “There are some days I’d be driving and want to stop by the roadside and buy food like hot akara, but I’d have to send someone. By the time the person goes, buys the slats, and gets back, it’s no longer hot.”
He added, “I miss being able to eat akara bread and co. ABC—that’s the best burger ever. I still like that life.”
After three decades in the entertainment industry, Mr P says he’s now focused on reclaiming moments of normalcy, even if fame makes that difficult.
