Mohamed Salah Wins FWA Footballer Of The Year As He Eyes Premier League Record

Published

Mohamed Salah has been crowned Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers’ Association for the third time, following his crucial role in Liverpool’s Premier League title triumph.

The Egyptian forward, who has spent eight years at Anfield, declared he has “never been happier” as he looks to make more history with the club. Salah needs just two goal involvements in Liverpool’s final home game against Crystal Palace to set a new Premier League record.

He already holds the highest total for a 38-game season, but two more contributions would take him to 48, surpassing the 47 tallies recorded by Andy Cole (1993-94) and Alan Shearer (1994-95) during 42-game campaigns.

Few would bet against Salah achieving that feat on the day Liverpool are set to lift the Premier League trophy.

While focused on the present, Salah is also thinking ahead—possibly to surpassing Thierry Henry, the only other player to have won the FWA award three times.
