Lagos Corps Members Trained on Fire Safety Measures

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service conducted a fire safety awareness program. It was for 2024 Batch B stream II Corps members at the Lagos Camp.
The goal was to mitigate the risk of fire outbreak and respond effectively in emergency situations.
Fire Officer II Temitope Sofela underscored the importance of fire safety awareness. He shared a harrowing personal experience of narrowly escaping a fire. The fire was caused by a kerosene stove.
He therefore implored Corps Members to always be very careful when handling fire.
The officer dwelt extensively on effective fire extinguishing techniques. These included smothering, starving, and cooling. He also identified common fire causes such as arson, carelessness, and accidents.
Officer Sofela covered other topics like fire classification, fire-fighting equipment, and emergency response procedures.
Corps members gained practical experience in operating fire extinguishers using the PASS method. They were also reminded of the emergency contact numbers (767/112).
