Jannik Sinner claimed his first Wimbledon title and cemented his place at the top of men’s tennis with a commanding four-set victory over Carlos Alcaraz in Sunday’s final.

The 22-year-old world No. 1 defeated the defending champion 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 on Centre Court, becoming the first Italian player ever to win a Wimbledon singles title. The win also marks his second Grand Slam title following his Australian Open triumph earlier this year.

“It’s a special moment for me,” Sinner said after lifting the trophy. “Winning Wimbledon is a dream come true. I’ve worked so hard for this, and to do it against a great player like Carlos makes it even more meaningful.”

Despite losing the first set, Sinner responded with calm and clinical precision, breaking Alcaraz in each of the next three sets to take control of the match. The final lasted just over three hours—far shorter than their epic French Open semi-final encounter earlier in the year.

Alcaraz, who was aiming for his third consecutive Wimbledon crown, admitted it was a tough loss but praised Sinner’s performance.

“I’m obviously sad to lose, but Jannik played an unbelievable match,” Alcaraz said. “I gave everything, but today just wasn’t my day.”

With the win, Sinner continues his impressive rise and further fuels what has become the sport’s most exciting new rivalry. Between them, Sinner and Alcaraz have now captured eight of the last nine Grand Slam titles.

“Every time we play, we push each other to the limit,” Sinner noted. “I have so much respect for Carlos. I know we’ll have many more battles ahead.”

The victory adds another milestone to Sinner’s already remarkable season and confirms his status as the new dominant force in men’s tennis.
