JAMB Denies Sending Fake Resit Exam Messages

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disassociated itself from false messages urging candidates to reprint their examination slips for another resit of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

In an official statement, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, clarified that the misleading messages are being sent via a spoofed version of the board’s 66019 short code. He emphasized that these messages did not originate from JAMB and are intended to mislead candidates who have already taken part in the resit exercise and received their results.

“There are currently no ongoing or scheduled UTME resit examinations. Candidates who have completed their resit and obtained their results should disregard these fraudulent messages, which are clearly designed to create confusion,” Benjamin stated.

He further explained that the only examination yet to be scheduled is the foreign UTME, which is conducted in nine countries across Europe, the Middle East, and parts of Africa.

JAMB also announced plans for a mop-up examination. This will be held specifically for candidates who missed both the main and resit exams and were granted special waivers for biometric-related issues.

“The public should ignore any unofficial communication regarding additional resits,” the statement concluded. “Eligible candidates for the mop-up exam will be formally informed once all arrangements are completed.”
