The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has commended Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, for his unwavering commitment to improving the welfare of workers and for exhibiting admirable sportsmanship in his political engagements.

In an official statement released by Mr. Monday Uzo, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, on Friday, Governor Nwifuru’s steadfast dedication to uplifting the conditions of workers was highlighted.

Mr. Uzo also emphasised the governor’s consistent efforts to improve the working environment and his exemplary conduct towards opposition parties.

IPAC’s National Chairman, Yusuf Danielle, praised the governor’s proactive approach to raising workers’ salaries and honouring wage awards, noting him as a trendsetter within the nation.

Mr. Danielle stressed the importance of transparent governance and peer review mechanisms in assessing state progress. He urged Governor Nwifuru to allow IPAC to showcase Ebonyi State’s achievements on a national scale.

“We do what we call a peer review mechanism where we go round and see what you have done. We ask you to allow IPAC to showcase what you have done in Ebonyi State because the much you have achieved so far should not be buried. Again we see your masterstroke in entrepreneurship by lifting people out of poverty through your grants for hawkers,” he said.

IPAC’s visit to Abakaliki was part of its mandate to oversee elections for the opposition and all political parties. Mr. Danielle reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to promoting unity and peaceful coexistence among political entities within the state.

“We are going to put the umbrella body of all political parties in the state together to ensure smooth running and peaceful coexistence in the state,” he explained.

In response, Governor Nwifuru expressed his administration’s readiness to collaborate with all political parties to ensure harmony and progress in Ebonyi State. He reiterated his commitment to implementing robust economic policies and developmental initiatives aimed at propelling the state forward.

Governor Nwifuru assured IPAC of the state government’s unwavering support in conducting elections without disruptions or undue interference, emphasising his impartial stance on electoral outcomes.

He stated, “Whoever wins, I am not interested. I don’t have enemies, only political opponents.”

Reflecting on his past affiliations with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Governor Nwifuru emphasised the importance of political inclusivity and unity, highlighting the potential for former opponents to collaborate for the state’s progress.

Looking ahead, he expressed optimism about Ebonyi State’s prospects and reaffirmed his commitment to prioritising industrialisation as a catalyst for development.

“The election you people are here to conduct, whoever wins I am not interested. I am not interested in your election and my party Chairman is here. I don’t have enemies, what I have are political opponents.”

“In 2015 and even 2019, I was in PDP and today there is no PDP flag here. When I was there, they supported me and I won’t count them as enemies. They voted for me for three straight tenures before I left. So I don’t see opposition parties as enemies because the person who is your opponent may be in the same political party with you tomorrow,” he stated.
