How to Bypass Technical Glitches and Successfully Apply on the CDCFIB Recruitment

Following widespread outrage and national frustration over the Federal Government’s CDCFIB recruitment portal—which has been plagued by repeated error messages, inaccessible pages, and disrupted submissions—many Nigerians are now seeking practical ways to navigate the system and complete their applications.

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has officially admitted to these issues, acknowledging that the portal’s technical faults have significantly hampered the application process. In a public statement, they recognized the scale of the problem and apologized to applicants, as investigations by Asiwaju Media brought national attention to the crisis.

Still, despite CDCFIB’s admission, many Nigerians cannot afford to wait indefinitely. Here are steps you can take to bypass or reduce the impact of the technical issues while trying to apply:

  1. Apply During Off-Peak Hours
Heavy traffic on the portal is one of the main reasons for its frequent crashes. Try accessing the site between 12:00 AM and 5:00 AM when server demand is significantly lower.
  2. Use a Fast and Stable Internet Connection
A poor network can amplify existing technical glitches. Make sure you are using 4G or a strong broadband connection. Avoid mobile data in areas with low reception.
  3. Switch Devices and Browsers
Some users have found better success applying from a desktop or laptop computer rather than a phone. Additionally, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox often perform better than other browsers when loading the portal.
  4. Clear Cache and Use Incognito Mode
If the portal keeps giving you errors, clear your browser’s cache and cookies. Try reloading the site in Incognito or Private mode, which prevents cached data from affecting functionality.
  5. Avoid Repeated Refreshing
Constantly refreshing the page when it freezes may result in incomplete or corrupt submissions. Instead, wait a few minutes and restart the session afresh.
  6. Prepare Information Offline
Because the portal can time out unexpectedly, get all required information and documents ready offline before you start. This includes biodata, educational qualifications, NYSC or exemption certificate if applicable, passport photograph, and valid contact details.
  7. Try Different Locations or Networks
If your home or office network keeps failing, consider using a different Wi-Fi or mobile hotspot. Some ISPs are less affected than others.
  8. Screenshot Errors and Keep Records
Document all failed attempts by taking screenshots. This will serve as proof in case CDCFIB requests evidence of your application efforts.
  9. Monitor Official Channels
Follow CDCFIB’s official platforms and Asiwaju Media for updates on portal fixes, deadline extensions, or alternative submission options like email or physical forms.
  10. Be Persistent
Even though it may take multiple tries, many applicants have eventually succeeded after repeated attempts. Don’t assume your data has been rejected—keep trying until you get a confirmation.
