Governor Sanwo-Olu Charges NYSC Corps Members to Create Lasting Impact at Lagos Camp Closing Ceremony
The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu has told 2023 Batch “C” Stream I corps members at the NYSC Lagos Orientation Camp in Iyana-Ipaja today, to leave indelible legacies just like their predecessors during the service year.
The Governor, represented by the Honourable Commissioner of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Hon. Olugbenga Oyerinde, gave the charge while addressing the corps members in the official closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch “C” Stream I Orientation course.
He urged them to take their host communities as their homes, contributing to their development during the service year, fostering national unity and integration in the process. He encouraged the corps members to take their community development service seriously as the Lagos State government will always reward outstanding corps members at the end of the service year.
In the same vein, State Coordinator NYSC Lagos, Mrs Yetunde Baderinwa has expressed optimism in the corps members as touching service-delivery. She said with the trainings the corps members have been exposed to, they will perform excellently having imbibed the tenets of the scheme.
Meanwhile, the State Coordinator has warned the corps members to avoid traveling in the night and shun immoral lifestyle during the service year. She urged the corps members to stop over at any military base or any nearest police station whenever they are stranded.
To mark the end of the 21-day programme, Some officials of the camp and some corps members were commended after distinguishing themselves during the course. Kehinde Adetule(LA/23C/0567) as overall best corps member, Isaac Ndubuisi Akomah(LA/23C/0456),who was the overall parade Commander, Esiebo John Aghoghovwhebvi(LA/23C/0561),Obiadiaso Chidera Desmond(LA/23C/1007),Olarewaju Olaiya Emmanuel(LA/23C/0403), were the three Corps Camp Directors in camp, and also distinguished themselves in collecting information, breaking it into understandable bits for the corps members, and also helping the management resolve issues relatable to the corps members, taking complaints and ensuring all are well attended to.
From the officials category, Alhaji Adebayo Wasiu was commended for ensuring his duty post, as the Head of Security and Gate became a reference point during the course. Also, CAII. Sekoni Ganiyu from the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC), was also commended for his robust security posture he displayed during the course.
