Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has reiterated his administration’s resolve to support the NYSC scheme in the state for greater impact.
Otti stated this on Tuesday at the closing ceremony and Terminal Parade organized for the 2024 Batch “A” stream 2 corps members deployed to the State.
The Governor who was represented by the Commissioner, Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, Sir. Nwaobilor Ananaba; commended the managers of the scheme for their efforts and commitment in moulding lives of the youths towards self-reliance and stated that the scheme is worth supporting for greater impact.
He urged the corps members to translate the trainings, knowledge and skills acquired during the orientation course into qualitative service to their host communities and places of primary assignment by leaving behind enduring legacies, as his administration is ready to reward corps members who excelled during the service year with Honours Award.
Earlier in her address, the NYSC state Coordinator, Mrs. Gladys Adama charged corps employers to treat corps members posted to them as their children
by allowing them to excel in their chosen careers.
Sheappealed to Local Government Councils across the state, to look into the possibility of upgrading corps members’ lodges or building additional new ones to accommodate the ever-increasing number of corps members.
While charging the corps members on good conduct, the Coordinator,
urged them to take their post-camp skills acquisition training very seriously to enable them to perfect the skills learnt during their in-camp hands-on training.
