The Federal government has announced Thursday as an additional holiday to mark the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr by the Muslims.
The Minister of Interior, Tunji Ojo disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday 9th April 2024 on his X handle and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr Aishetu Gogo Ndayako.

The Federal Government has approved Thursday 11th April, 2024 as an additional public holiday to celebrate this year’s Eid -El-Fitr.
The Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, while congratulating the Muslim Ummah for the successful completion of a month of spiritual rejuvenation, reiterates President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s (GCFR) firm commitment to providing a safe and prosperous Nigeria for all to thrive.

Recall that FG had earlier declared Tuesday and Wednesday as Public holidays to mark the 2024 Eid-el-Fitr.
It was observed that due that the Sultan of Sokoto who’s the President of Islamic Council Affairs is yet to announce the sighting of the moon which marks the end of Ramadan.
A statement was issued from Saudi Arabia stating that the moon was yet to be sighted. This has raised concerns among Muslims and questions from netizens as to why MDAs would be shut down because of the Muslim feast.
