EFCC Convicts 15 Chinese Nationals for Cyberterrorism and Internet Fraud in Lagos

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured the conviction and sentencing of 15 Chinese nationals for cyberterrorism and internet fraud in Lagos.
According to a statement from the commission, the Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 prosecuted the suspects before two Federal High Court judges—Justice Ayokunle Faji and Justice Dehinde Dipeolu—both sitting in Ikoyi.
The convicted individuals include Ling Yang, Xiao Hong Will, Wang Zheng Ming, Wang Jia Qi, Yang Sheng, Peng Sen Lin, Guo Xiao Fei, Chen An Shun, Zhao Ying Bin, Yu Zi (aka Wei Xue Huan), Zhang Yang, Wang Zhi Cheng, and Lu Yubo. Notably, the name Peng Sen Lin and Yang Sheng appeared twice in the EFCC’s statement.
They were arraigned on separate charges relating to cyberterrorism and internet fraud.
This development comes just weeks after another major conviction involving 14 Chinese nationals who were sentenced by Justice Daniel Osiagor of the Federal High Court in Lagos for similar crimes.
In that earlier case, the EFCC described the defendants as members of an organized cyber syndicate involved in identity theft, online scams, and digital espionage targeting victims both locally and abroad.
The convictions represent a major step in Nigeria’s ongoing battle against transnational cybercrime, as the country continues to intensify efforts to crack down on online criminal networks.
