Ebonyi Monarch Pledges to Revitalize Aji-ereke Festival, Clarifies it’s Agaramugoede, not Agaramugede
The King of Okpuitumo Agaramugoede Kingdom Ikwo local government , HRH Eze Ezekiel Oyika, says he will revitalize 2024 Aji-ereke cultural Festival in Okpuitumo Ikwo.
Culture has a lot to do in moral upbringing and community development . But in Igbo land, it is completely eroding away. It is now a duty for communities to revive their cultures because culture is a people’s way of life and helps in moulding character.
Okpuitumo Agaramugoede Community in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State has rich cultures but some of those cultures are almost going into extinction.
One of the beautiful cultures of the community that is almost dead is the Aji Ereke festival.
The Monarch in an interview with Asiwajumedia explained, “Aji-ereke festival is used to usher in the farming season in the community, after the celebration, the people will kick start cultivating their crops. It’s usually celebrated between the month of March and May Every year”
“ During the celebration, the people exchange gifts while the women of the community cook different local delicacies. It’s a season of love of celebration in Okpuitumo community and we must celebrate this year in a better form”
In another development, he explained that the name AGARAMUGOEDE “ Is three names in one , AGARAMA UGO EDE” adding that Agaramugoede is the Progenitor of Okpuitumo community “ AGARAMA tomb is located at the boundary between Ivuakpa village and Enyim village, the man that was taking care of the tomb is UGO Ogbu Nwankwo”
“ It’s Agaramugoede Not Agaramugede “ he retorted.
