Buhari Laid to Rest in Daura as Dignitaries Pay Final Respects

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has been buried at his private residence in Daura, Katsina State.
President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima were among the dignitaries who joined thousands of mourners to pay their last respects to the late Nigerian leader.
Also present at the funeral were Chadian President Muhammed Debby, President Umaru Sasseko of Guinea Bissau, and Niger Republic’s Prime Minister, Ali Muhammane.
The solemn ceremony was attended by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, as well as serving and former governors, ministers, and other top dignitaries.
The funeral prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Daura, Sheikh Salisu Rabiu, and held at the helipad area of the late president’s hometown.
The body arrived in Katsina around 2:00 p.m. and was conveyed by road to Daura at about 3:40 p.m. A ceremonial gun salute was performed between 5:32 p.m. and 5:35 p.m., and Buhari was laid to rest at approximately 6:00 p.m.
Former President Buhari passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in a hospital in London.
