Binani Dumps APC For ADC Amid Rumored Alliance With Atiku

The 2023 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, popularly known as Binani, has defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Her media aide, Maulud Usman, confirmed the move on Sunday, July 20, stating that Binani quietly arrived in Yola on Saturday evening, July 19, and made the declaration in the presence of close allies.
“It wasn’t planned as an elaborate event, and there was no media invite, but the declaration has been made,” Usman said, adding that a formal unveiling of her political plans under the ADC is being organized.
Binani represented Adamawa Central in the Senate from 2019 to 2023 and made history in 2022 as the first woman to clinch the APC’s governorship ticket after defeating five male opponents. She ran a strong campaign in the 2023 election but narrowly lost to incumbent Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of the PDP.
Her defection comes amid unconfirmed reports that former Vice President and PDP’s 2023 presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has also joined the ADC.
Sources suggest both Binani and Atiku will return to Yola next month for a major political rally to officially launch their alliance within the ADC.
