Arsenal Women Clinch UEFA Women’s Champions League Title

On May 24, 2025, Arsenal Women secured a 1-0 victory over Barcelona in the UEFA Women’s Champions League final held at Lisbon’s Estádio José Alvalade. The decisive goal came in the 74th minute when substitute Stina Blackstenius expertly converted a pass from Beth Mead.
This win marks Arsenal’s second Champions League title, their first being in 2007. Guided by head coach Renée Slegers, who took over midway through the season, the team displayed remarkable tactical discipline and resilience, including a stunning comeback against Real Madrid earlier in the competition.
A standout performer was Mariona Caldentey, who, after a successful career at Barcelona, joined Arsenal and played a crucial role throughout the Champions League and Women’s Super League campaigns.
Arsenal’s triumph ends Barcelona’s quest for a third straight European crown and makes them the only English club to have won the Women’s Champions League.
