Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Tems Nominated for 2025 NAACP Image Awards
Three Nigerian music stars, Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Tems, have earned nominations for the prestigious 2025 NAACP Image Awards.
The annual event, organized by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), recognizes excellence in film, television, theatre, music, and literature.
Wizkid, whose real name is Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, received two nominations for his collaboration with Brent Faiyaz on the track Piece of My Heart. He was recognized in the categories of ‘Outstanding International Song’ and ‘Outstanding Duo, Group, or Collaboration (Contemporary)’.
Burna Boy, known as Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, also earned a nomination for ‘Outstanding Duo, Group, or Collaboration (Contemporary)’ for his song Coming Home with Usher.
Meanwhile, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, secured a spot in the ‘Outstanding International Song’ category for her track Love Me JeJe.
The 56th NAACP Image Awards will be held on February 22, 2025, at the Pasadena Civic Centre in California.
The nominations highlight the global influence of Nigerian artists and their contributions to contemporary and international music.
