Technology in Nigeria has grown significantly in the past decade, but 2025 promises to be a tipping point.
“The potential is limitless,” says Dr. Adebayo Lekan, a tech policy expert.
“Artificial intelligence, blockchain, and renewable energy tech are set to dominate our innovation space. The key is ensuring these advancements benefit everyone, not just a few urban centers.”

“People should be ready to embrace technological advancements, as it has come to stay.”, he added.
However, concerns remain about accessibility. Maryam Abubakar, a secondary school teacher in Sokoto, highlights the divide. “Most of our students don’t even have basic computers. How can they compete in this tech-driven world?”
“We need government to provide basic facilities to groom our students to become well grounded in various tech skills .”
Cybersecurity expert Yusuf Aliyu warns of growing digital threats. “More connectivity means more risks.
“In 2025, Nigeria must prioritize data protection or face catastrophic breaches.”
Political Analyst also reveal their predictions towards 2025:A Youth-Led Movement in the political arena, elucidate that 2025 is expected to set the stage for Nigeria’s 2027 general elections. With majority of the population being youth, young people are increasingly demanding accountability and representation.
“Young Nigerians are tired of waiting for change—they want to lead it,” says Amina Garba , a political analyst.
But not everyone is optimistic. A political science student at Sokoto state University doubts the impact of these efforts. “Youth movements are energetic but fragmented. Without unity and strategy, they can’t win against established political forces.”
For the Culturally inclined, they hope on embracing the past while shaping the future.
Culturally, Nigeria is at an intersection of tradition and modernity. Zahra Ibrahim, a poet and curator, believes 2025 will be a turning point. “Our stories are becoming global currency,” she says. “Whether through Sports, Nollywoods or fashion, the world is looking to Nigeria for inspiration in 2025.”
In fashion, Bola Atanda, a designer, is betting on a fusion of old and new. “Adire and Ankara fabrics are being reimagined for global audiences. It’s a celebration of heritage with a contemporary edge and I hope 2025 will be worth it as we’d show our cultural heritage to the global stage even more and better,” he revealed.
Religion is also evolving. Imam Sanni Mubarak notes a rise technology. “Technology is making people learn more about the religion. This is making religion more accessible, especially for younger generations as people can easily learn, read resource materials and listen to lectures of scholars of international reputes that are that they could not have reached out to or had access to learn.”
